Light Line bush camp walk

D'Aguilar National Park Bush Camps

Remote bush camping in open eucalypt woodland surrounded by bloodwoods, grey gums and tallowwoods. The uncommon shrub, Goodenia ovata, shows off its yellow flowers in spring and autumn along the road edge on the walk in.

Getting there

From the park boundary at Forestry Road, Mount Nebo, the campsite is accessed by walking 1.7km along Light Line Road. Forestry Road is a 25-minute drive from Walkabout Creek in The Gap.

Route/Trail notes

The track is good, an old 4WD track, so no problems there. Some small loose rocks here and there but all in all a good track. Easy for beginners to experienced.

13 Km loop through Taylors Break and up Job 6 to the bush camp. Nice easy walk but not a remote bush camp, only few km from town.

The walk to Lightline bush camp was interesting today. Saw a massive python at the beginning of the track. Then approx 500m down the track was a scrub turkey going about its business before I interrupted it. Numerous lizzards scurring around. Some beautiful parrots just added to the beauty of nature.
When I reached the bush campsite the fire pit has been removed. I'm not sure why? I dug a small hole in the ground and setup my fire. The coffee didn't take long and soon after that I put my noodles on.
What a great afternoon. Eating my lunch and in the distance I cold see F-111's and F/A 18 Hornets flying around. Tried out some new gear, a good walk.
And on the way back the python was still there. I guess if your THAT big you don't have much to worry about ! (At the widest approx 20cms)

As always a good track. I always enjoy the campsite there with a great fire pit and storm shelter and water if you need it.

Did this walk and great to get to the shelter there and have some lunch. There is a water tank there. Use a last resort and boil water before drinking.
