Getting there

To be honest, I am not sure how to actually get to the start of the trailhead. We accidently drove up a toll road which took us to the peak of the mountain. I personally think that this is the better way to enjoy the mountain as you walk down to the best part instead of starting with the best part.

Route/Trail notes

If starting from the peak of Haguro, check out the main temple complex first. At the back of the temple you will find a stone stair case which contains over 2000 stairs. The big ticket attraction, the five storied pagoda in the forest is at the bottom of the mountain. It should only take yoou maximum of 30 minutes to walk down the mountain. If you need a break, there is a tea-house located on the side of the mountain that peddles shaved ice and green tea.

Once at the pagoda, take your photos and then walk back up the mountain and leave. That's all there is to it my friends.

Permits/Costs

Car toll up mountain cost somewhere in the ballpark of 400 yen. There is a bus if you don't have a car.
