Route/Trail notes

A detailed description of the walk!

Once parked in the Okere Falls Scenic Reserve carpark make sure to check out a side path away from the main trail head on the river side of the carpark it will lead to the top of Okere Falls then head back and across the carpark to the main trail head and take the side trail to the lookout at Okere Falls then return to the trail and continue ahead before branching left to go along the ridge eventually this path will join the main path turn left and then turn left again to enter the Trout Pool carpark where you shall cross the carpark and come to a bridge which will give you a view over the river you can have a brief foray on the opposite side of the bridge if you wish but you will have to come back across the bridge then you shall continue up stream to the Trout Pool Falls lookout then make sure to continue following the river up stream the path will get narrower but will take you to Trout Pool Falls itself where if your careful you can make your way next to them and feel the spray. Then continue following the river up stream eventually you will turn left as straight ahead will lead you back to Trout Pool carpark then you will come across a side path to your right which is where you come down from the ridge track so don't turn into it and instead carry on left along the Okere Falls Track where you will eventually reach a side track on the left to Tutea Falls Lookout once there you can continue to Hinemoa's Steps and Tutea's Cave. Once you have rejoined the main trail you will follow it back to the carpark.
