A short hike up to the summit of Mount Taylor will reward you with excellent views of Canberra and beyond. It is a good alternative to Black Mountain and Mt Ainslie that enables you to avoid all the tourists and actually hike up a mountain you couldn't just drive up.

Getting there

Search "Mt Taylor Carpark" in google and it should take you to a medium size capark at the top of Waldock st.

Route/Trail notes

Just beyond the carpark there is a big sign with information about the hike and the area. There are a number of trails on Mt Taylor that allow you to both climb it and circumnavigate it. The tracks are well graded and well marked, and you have decent views for most of the walk. At the top there is a trig station, some benches, and a brilliant view over Canberra.

Good easy walk to a beautiful peak

Great views from the top. A nice climb up. Good to see families with their dogs.

Very similar in intensity to Mt Beerburrum. Nice view at the top and a good opportunity to catch some wildlife - we saw heaps of kangaroos up there! Not as touristy as some of the other peaks around Canberra but quite a few locals jogging/hiking around it.
