I accidentally took this instead of the Douglas track! Wish I had time to go for a swim, was gorgeous
Glacier Rock via Douglas Track (Barron Gorge National Park)

Least populated walk of my entire Cairns bushwalk experience. And personally, one of my favourites. Wish I had done the full from the top of the Gorge, it may have made it easier going down hill for most of it

I had the day off work and decided to go for a short local hike. Jogged most of it, it's pretty smooth sailing. Although very dry and no water in the creek or the falls

It was wet. Very hard to finish, but we managed it. Too cloudy when we got to the peak.

It's pretty steep going for the first few kilometres and not to mention poorly marked. We spent most of the walk trying to find the track, but instead found other walkers who were equally as lost.

If you keep following the ridge from the dam straight up, you'll eventually get to a nice cliff wall. Go back about about 200 metres and on the left (facing back to the carpark) there'll be a track down the valley.

Once you descend the valley and pass the rock climbing walls, you'll head up again with a bit of a scramble in points until you reach a camp site. Once again, we couldn't find any markers, so a bit of an explore lead to us following the creek bed, onto some rocks and then off to the summit!

Excellent views and an excellent walk. But once again, I only saw about 4 markers the entire time, and all but one was a green spot on a rock or tree (making it a bit difficult to spot). We completed it in under 5 hours, including a large time spent contemplating the view from the top with a nice cold drink.

Was very busy on Saturday morning. We kept getting overlapped by little kids who just fly up the wall
Routeburn Track (At least to Harris Saddle and back) (South Island NZ)
4 Jan, 2009
Hard

Slightly cold and wet, even for the middle of summer. Had to turn back half way up the scramble behind Harris Saddle as the weather was turning horrid.

But an absolutely amazing walk. Lots of people on it taking their time. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. I just wanted to stop every few seconds and take a picture.

Once you depart the waterfalls and climb up the switchbacks, it can kind of get disheartening, but definitely worth it. Especially for a nice dip in the waterfalls on a hot day
