Getting there

From St Marys, take Franks St which runs into German Town Road.  Where the road changes to dirt just out of town there is a sign that says South Sister is 4.5km ahead.  This only takes you to the turnoff.  However the road from here is 4wd only.  It’s maybe only a km so you could easily walk it, but it is mostly uphill.

The carpark is isn’t clearly marked.  The road here is wider, and also rougher.

Route/Trail notes

From the carpark, take the track that leads straight up.  There are rock steps with a handrail to help you up as well as steps.  The track takes you to a lookout with views from all sides.

Comments

Information about this track was unclear on other sites. We started walking up the road before we realized that it couldn’t be the track and took our 4wd up. The road isn’t as rough in the middle section but at the top it is so bad that we damaged the running board on our 4wd. Definitely don’t take a conventional vehicle up here. The views from the top are amazing.
