Bundeena to Jibbon Head Circuit

On this loop walk you will enjoy some grand ocean views, a few secluded beaches, rock shelves and some Aboriginal engravings. The walk starts in the community of Bundeena and follows the roads to Jibbon Beach then along the track to Jibbon Head and Shelley beach, then a long stretch of sandy management trail through the heath. The walk also describes a side trip to Bundeena Lookout.

It offers panoramic views of the mountain peaks, Caloundra, Maroochydore, Brisbane and Moreton Island. A short walking track starting at the lookout leads you through open scribbly gum forest, down through a wet eucalypt forest gully and returns back to the lookout.

Illawarra Escarpment Track (Forest Walk)

If you want to stretch your legs and take in some of the best views of the region, you can’t miss this - a bushwalk of the highest calibre.
The Illawarra Escarpment offers a full range of exciting walks. This extended hike combines several of the best, threading through magnificent cliff-top rainforest and dry eucalypts.
Start the walk at either Coalcliff (Wodi Wodi track) or Austinmer (Sublime Point track). Both trackheads are a short stroll from the train station. Your path then ascends sharply before snaking a leisurely 11km along Forest walk. Views are superb across the panoramic coast below, as you wander through upland swamps and tall blackbutt-apple shale forest. You’re bound to capture some inspiring photos here.
You can cap it all off with a post-trek barbecue: at Sublime Point lookout, the track takes a steep turn down to Austinmer via a narrow cliff ledge and several ladders. The nearby Lady Fuller park, featuring picnic tables and toilets, offers a fitting end to your challenging, but rewarding hike.

Sublime Point walking track is one of the iconic treks of the Illawarra escarpment, and a challenging walk through lush coastal rainforest to the plateau above with incredible scenic views. The steep climb is ideal for experienced bushwalkers and a great nature escape only an hour from Sydney, north of Wollongong.
Starting at Sublime point lookout carpark, the track descends steeply with many steps through dense forests dotted with tree ferns and palms. Stop for a breather for some great birdwatching, and look out for yellow-tailed black cockatoos or raptor birds such as falcons and kestrels.
A series of ladders allow you to rock-hop your way down from the summit, where you’ll be rewarded with magnificent views up and down the coast. Enjoy lunch at the picnic facilities or nearby cafe upon your return.

Berowra Waters to Cowan (GNW)

One of the hillier sections of the Great North Walk - you can start/finish at Berowra Station or Berowra Waters (car access only). There are many wide views across Berowra Creek providing some great excuses for well deserved rest stops. Take your time to enjoy the views, and rock formations, and creek crossings along the way as the track traveses multiple valleys between Berowra and Cowan railway station, through a wonderfully remote section of bushland. One of the best sections of the Great North Walk!

This walk starts from Nielsen Park and follows a well maintained track along the narrow strip of harbour-side bushland to Bayview Hill Rd. Along the way, you will visit some secluded beaches and visit the historic Strickland House. A great walk exploring the history and natural beauty while enjoying a new perspective of the city.

Mt Trefles

This walk explores the bushy interior section of Nielsen Park. On this walk, you will visit historic Greycliffe House and the Steele Point Gun Emplacement. The walk climbs over the Mount Trefle summit. At just over 40m above sea level, I suspect most walkers will not consider it much of a mountain, but an enjoyable walk all the same. Most of this walk follows concrete and sealed paths, and there are some great harbour views on the second half of this walk.

This walk starts near Katoomba Kiosk, opposite Katoomba Park, on Cliff Drive. The walk heads through the bush, on a well established track, out to Reids Plateau. The loop around Reids Plateau explores several lookouts and the bush through the area. There are a couple of short side trips out to extra lookouts, including one that passes through a natural tunnel. Reids Plateau Picnic area has a few picnic tables, shelter, and a great view making a great spot for a picnic lunch.

It will feel like you’re on the edge of the world as the views go on forever at Sublime Point lookout – Leura, in Blue Mountains National Park. Offering sensational scenic views of the Jamison Valley, it’s a popular spot for picnicking and birdwatching with families. The more adventurous know it as a haven for rock climbing.
Following an easy track, look for gang-gangs and cockatoos feeding in the casuarinas during summer. You’ll cross a bridge over a dramatic ravine before arriving at the lookout platform.
Gaze across the scenic valley views and soak up the unending wilderness. You’ll get a different viewpoint on Katoomba and the extended family of The Three Sisters. On a misty morning, Mount Solitary rising out of the clouds is a magnificent sight.
The sheer cliffs attract experienced rock climbers, who are often seen tackling climbs such as ‘Hells Bells’ and ‘Sweet Dreams’.
