Getting there:

Bunya Mountain Road is the thoroughfare to Bunya Mountains. It can be reached from Kingaroy south on the Bunya Highway for 32km and turning left (signposted). From Dalby north, you need your GPS to get to the base of the drive. This can be a very steep and twisty mountain road, so please take care.

Start at the Paradise car park a little north of Dandebah on Bunya Mountains Road.

Completed as part of the walk from Paradise to Cherry Plain. Nice Walk. This section particularly is quite flat. We did the return journey along the national park path rather than the road because it was such an easy walk

Not having been into Bunya Mountains, I did not appreciate how beautiful and extensive this region was. I only had a day in here, so tried to cover as many walks as possible. But the reality is you need to stay in Dandabah Village and explore the area more fully.
The morning sun on the shiny Bunya Tree pinnacles is quite a spectacle.

Took Kev and Elyse along this track. They loved the vista out over the darling Downs and the prickly pears

First time walking the tracks on the opposite side to Dandabah. What a lovely surprise.

A nice little walk to spot some birds. We didn’t do it as a loop to avoid walking on the road. 6.1km, great views to the west from the lookout.

We started this walk from Westcott campground. We walked from Westcott to Paradise car parking area and returned on the same track rather than walking on the road. It ended up being 6.1km and took us just under 2hrs - a very leisurely pace to do some bird spotting and marvel at the beautiful trees. Westcliff Lookout has some impressive views out to the west.
