Point Lookout to Keyholes

Start from Point Lookout and walk southward down the beach till a sign in the dunes where you head in land for about 100m to the keyholes. Then head back to Point Lookout same way.

Getting there

Start the walk from the start of Main Beach near the Surf Lifesaving Club. If you have a 4WD and the appropriate permit (purchased from Minjeeribah Camping) you can drive along Main Beach to the entrance track to the Keyholes.

Route/Trail notes

Walk South along Main Beach until you see the gate and track into the lakes. The walk along the beach should take about an hour.

Permits/Costs

The only costs are for transport to the start of the walk - ferry/water taxi and bus.

Comments

I did an inland track version of this walk - found a nice footpath off Samarinda Way, and just kept on walking. All loose sand, so more of a workout that you might expect. Nice smells of wildflowers in the air at the end of August.
