A 2km return walk from Wellington Point along the sand spit at low tide, good for all , kids can play in water, get some sand between your toes, take your dog during the week, enjoy the water and unique views out over the bay.

Getting there

Drive to Wellington Point, find a park and head Northish out across the sand spit from the little beach on the Northern side of the park area.

Route/Trail notes

Walk across the sand to the island.

Best at low tide up to mid tide, after that the sand spit is getting covered in water and you will be stuck on the island.

Wear a hat, no shade on this walk.

A flat easy walk. I had the two kids with me on this one. It ended up being a great family day out, stopping along the way for swims and family photos.
