Mount Ngungun (pronounced 'noo noo')but generally known as "Gun Gun" is a very popular hike due to its relative ease and fantastic views. Traditional owners have asked that this mountain not be climbed.

A well defined graded track with some steep sections. The track begins in open forest with a fern understory. Part way up the mountain, there is a great view of Mt Tibrogargan as the track passes a small rock overhang. The summit provides spectacular close-up views of nearby Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Tibberoowuccum, Mt Coonowrin and Mt Beerwah.

Route/Trail notes:

A graded path starts from the sign post and information board. Follow the path, which switch backs up the hill till you reach a steep, loose, rocky gully, requiring big steps or light scramble/rock hop up. When you reach the top, it's a good place to have a rest, picnic and the view.

Return by retracing your steps.

Amazing summit view, incredibly photographic- not just the view but the summit rock features and flowering bushes as well. It was a wow moment as you crested the top.

A nice stroll up the Mt Ngungun. Beautiful 360 views from the top. Also, there is a cool cave about halfway up which looks super cool. I flew my drone from the top and it was spectacular. You can see all the other Glasshouse Mountains from the summit. A good intro to hiking the other glasshouse mountains.

Quite easy.
For a change do it late in the Arvo and watch the sunset, it's amazing. But remember to bring ba touch for the way back down.

Relatively easy walk did it in under an hour easily with long brakes because there wasn’t any rush. Could have done it in 40 mins but wouldn’t have time to soak up the view

Pretty easy walk, although there are quite a few steps. Probably not good for anyone with bad knees. Lovely views at the top of the Glass House Mountains.

Nice walk on graded path for the most part but a little rocky in parts. The track has changed a bit in places on the way up. Great views from the top and a very popular track. Get there early to avoid crowds.

Moderately hard walk, but can be completed by anyone. The sunset view from mountain is beautiful

Nice walk through forest at the start, then lots of stairs, much like Mt Coolum. Right at the top you've got a massive vertical drop, so be careful!

A relaxing stroll.

Perfect for young kids, who respond to their parents when needed, as there were parts of this walk that had dangerous drop offs.

The walk was very relaxing, a gentle incline and descent, with an interesting path.... I managed to walk most of the way on the larger path boulders, this kept my walk interesting and really gave my legs a lovely, much needed, work out.

Relaxing spots to sit on the summit. We watched the magpies eat the flying ants, right beside us on a rock. The view is delightful, and there is also a plateau of sorts.

A great little walk.

Mt Coolum lite! Nice and shady for the first two thirds of the climb. Fabulous views from the top and loads of rocks to scramble over when you’re there. My kids (13&10) loved it. Very busy on a sunny Sunday though.

It was a good walk. We left from the carpark around 4.30 pm and we reached the top about 4.50, it is an easy walk, a few steps but nothing too hard and the landscape is very lovely. We wanted to see the sunset and it was good. We left at 5.15 and we ran down it took only 12 min coming down. Dion l love you ❤️

What a fabulous walk to get kids interested in hiking up mountains. Not too gruelling, only taking about 30mins to get up, easy but fun rock scrambling, plenty of rock steps, and an interesting cave to see on the way up.
It is a busy walk and if only others respected the environment the way I expect them too. I found the loud talking of tourist families so disrespectful to the environment and to other users. Just as there are signs in on tracks like this telling people to protect the vegetation, I would like signs encouraging people to maintain the peaceful ambience.

Easy climb and great views.

Relatively cruisey hike with a properly built trail but a killer view!
