Mt Nebo - Honey Track

Queensland

This is a beautiful walk along mostly well maintained forestry roads. We parked at Bullocky's Dam - there is no sign and the road is tucked away, but it is between Boombana and is about 500 m from Jolly's Lookout.

Following South Boundary road, you will wonder through the mossy rainforest for about 2 km – where you will enjoy the beautiful sounds of the Bellbird – and see them! Go right when you reach Augies Road and continue for another 2 km (approx.), Honey Track splits off to the right – it is sign posted. The entrance to this track was a little overgrown, but don’t let this put you off as it clears back to the vehicular track after approximately 500 metres. Most of the next 2.5 km is along a ridge through eucalypt forest – keep your eye out for sunbaking snakes, goannas and lots of local birds. This track stops at the end of the of the ridge, where on a clear day you should enjoy glimpses of the valleys in the distance and Lake Manchester. Take a well-earned rest, enjoy the views and then retrace your steps. I loved this walk!

I hiked this track with a bushwalking group, they called it "Augie's Loop", I think this is the same track?

This is a moderate track along forestry roads. We aimed to completed the 16km hike in 5hours. We passed through wet and dry eucalypt forest and some rainforest. There were a number of hilly sections, with one moderately steep (with varying grade of 10 - 20%) hill, about 1.5km long.

Great day out on a challenging hike to build fitness.

It's pretty hilly, but the track is good. We thought the walk back was harder than the walk there with the hills. The start of the Honey Track where it is overgrown looked a bit like the weeds have been poisoned, so maybe the rangers are trying to fix it. All of the grass and some of the plants at the edge of the track were going yellow. We saw a few goannas and heard plenty more.

Not really any view at the end so a little disappointing but a decent length hike.

Nice enough walk. We actually parked at Jolly's outlook and took one of the first tracks down the hill which then joined up to the Honey Track. The small 2km in and back was through rainforest and was the most enjoyable part. The Honey Track itself was nice and mostly shaded but it was on a road mostly which in parts was overgrown. The track kind of just ends...so you can have a little picnic and a rest and then hike back. For me with my medium fitness levels, the hills were challenging but not hard just long.
A nice walk to get the steps up! Enjoyed some of the views through the trees.

Nice walk, lots of up and down, loads of birds singing. Took us just over 3 hours.

Great little walk, a few good geologically fascinating rock outcrops along the ridge. Good example of BMAD with the bell miner colony you'll walk through, they may sound pretty but they're an ecological menace. Saw some flowering acacia and native sarsaparilla too which added some nice colour to the walk.

Nice shady walk, although the first part of the walk is all down hill which means you've got to walk up hill on the way back.
