Permanent Waterhole / Ooline Creek is a walk in Sundown National Park. Its an easy walk along a clear path.
Located On the Queensland – New South Wales border, 250 km south-west of Brisbane via Stanthorpe and 70 km north-west of Tenterfield.
Sundown is a rugged wilderness area of spectacular sharp ridges and steep-sided gorges. The Severn River and its tributaries, woodland birds and remains of pastoral and mining heritage can be discovered via maintained walking tracks, challenging remote walks or the four-wheel-drive (4WD) track.

Getting there

From Stanthorpe, follow the signs towards Texas, then Sundown NP. Well signposted and easy to find. Enter the NP, turn left at the QPWS Ranger Station and follow signs to Broadwater camping area. Day use area is at end of camping area, with an information hut that has details of various walks and local geology, flora and fauna. Western Circuit, Ooline and Permanenet Waterhole well signposted and easy to traverse.

Comments

We only walked up Severn River for a little way, camped overnight and headed back out. The Red Shelf Waterhole was super nice. Lots of debris and rocks made for a slightly rough walk in sections but enjoyed scrambling around some rock edges.
