Scrub Road bush camp walk

D'Aguilar National Park Bush Camps

Remote bush camping in open eucalypt woodland among magnificent spotted gums, ironbarks and grey gums.

Getting there

From Mount Glorious Road, the campsite is accessed after walking 4km along Scrub Road. Along the way, stop at Enoggera Creek to enjoy the stunning scenery of the headwaters. Scrub Road is a 15-minute drive from Walkabout Creek in The Gap. An alternative route to the campsite is walking 5.8km along South Boundary Road, off Mount Nebo Road. South Boundary Road is a 20-minute drive from Walkabout Creek.

Route/Trail notes

The old track(dirt road) is of rocky surface so you may slip when wet. Walking down to the creek is a high light of this track. Stay a moment and enjoy the view. Before heading up the hill all the way to the camp ground. (I had phone reception most of the way and at the camp).

There is water at the camp ground but as always try and bring your own water or filter and contain at the creek before coming up to the camp. There is a fire pit there as well as a bbq plate and a storm shelter.

Did scrub road as a day-walk today.
Had intended to camp over night but park facilities were closed due to cyclone OMA - which proved to be a real fizzer.
Great walk - just to get out in the trees and the breeze was cooling.
Glimpses of beautiful views along the trails. Extended the walk down South boundary road to the weather station and then back to scrub road site for a bite to eat before heading back to the car. 12km all up. 3& 1/2 hours including 30mins for lunch.
Just great to be in the bush.
Cyclone! What cyclone?

Walked in and camped overnight with my 11 year old son. Fairly steep on the walk back to the car but an easy walk nonetheless.

The walk from Mt Nebo Road to Scrub road bush camp took about 1h 5m. We stayed at the camp site for about 20 minutes and then headed back. The walk from Enoggera Creek back up to Mt Nebo Road was all up hill with no flats.

The entire return trip took about 2h 30m.

Just before crossing the Enoggera creek, on the left follow the rocks to the waterhole and then a faint track appears on the bank. This is a great spot to have a cup of coffee on the banks of the creek. It's only a 500m diversion but well worth the short walk.

It took 1hr 15min to walk this track if you don't count rest stops or time for photos etc. It was also great to see a few people out on the remote tracks. While I was having lunch I saw an elderly couple walking past my camp. And when I was leaving a couple was walking up to the campground.
The campsite being at the top of the hill will make it a little prone to windy conditions but also won't be so cold as the lower sections in the mornings.
A light sprinkle at lunchtime but nothing to worry about. Hope you get out this weekend.

Another day....Another walk....

Loved rock hopping down Enoggera creek and walking further than the shelter was a bit steep on the way out.
