Empire Pass Circuit

New South Wales

The Empire Pass Track was constructed in the early 1900s, and improved and opened on Empire Day, 1913, hence the name. It passes through a beautiful gully of temperate rainforest and visits several delightful waterfalls in the North Lawson area.

The walk can be done all year round but is good in the warmer months as much of the track is in the shade of the gullies.

Really enjoyable walk with beautiful waterfalls. Definitely worth it if you have the extra time while hiking the Blue Mountains and if you have already seen all the highlights. Was a little sloppy when we went, so would definitely recommend hiking boots.

One of the nicest walks we've done in the Blue Mountains !
Strongly recommend it !
You do need to be relatively fit though.

With three waterfalls this is a scenic intensive walk, not too strenuous, and well signed. Be careful crossing the fords as the rocks can be a bit slippery. There is a forth waterfall, Fairy Falls which is a short side trip near the start. Recommend going a couple of days after a strong rain (for maximum waterfall goodness).

Wear long pants as the section heading towards and away from Frederica Falls is quite narrow and a bit overgrown, the plants will scratch your legs.

Also plenty of bird life around including Black and Gang Gang Cockatoos, and numerous honeyeaters.
