(Sunshine Coast)A walk around the mountain with a nice ascent.

Route/Trail notes
From the carpark follow the firetrail with signs for Trachyte circuit. This goes in a westerly direction. The mountain is kept on your right. Follow the firetrail till you get to the western side of the mountain and look for a track on your right ascending the mountain. Follow this up for about 15 minutes it will level out keep walking till you get to a rocky dome and an easy scramble to the top. Excellent views from here. To descend retrace your steps and when back at the firetrail either turn left or right and folow trails around the base in either direction till back at car. On the Northern side i found the second to last firetrail turn was the best.

The Northern track has now been marked by a pile of rocks. So from the car park, head back out to Barrs rd., take a left and walk one hundred metres until you find the fire trail. Follow the firetrail for 500 or so metres and keep an eye out for a pile of rocks on the left hand bank.

Fast becoming one of my favourite walks. I have never seen another person on the track except for the 4wds on the fire trailjen on 17 Jul, 2011
We found the 1st track was too over grown to get to the summit so we kept walking around to the right up the two slippery 4x4 hills. There was an obvious sign and track to follow. Fron the sign it took up 10mins to reach the top. At the top we found another track on the right which takes you down through the bush which was mostly obvious to follow. This track came out along another fire trail. We took the first left and followed this to Barrs Road then turned right and headed to the carpark which is a few minutes away. This 2nd track would be a little difficult to find heading up and was also quite steep so going down was the best option for us.Alan Barrie on 11 Apr, 2011
This is ground zero of the Glasshouse mountains. A 360 degree view to all the other mountains. Stunning views. Well worth the effort.Laurence Hallam on 11 Jul, 2010
An excellent morning jaunt. From the top you can see people climbing Tibrogargan.
