Route/Trail notes

Follow the graded track up through some forest and steps to a firetrail turn left and head uphill. The firetrail then descends downhill to a bridge, after the bridge the track starts to climb. The path is rocky and eroded here. Keep following the path up and across the face till it turns right onto a steep staircase. Follow these steps up at the end of the steps a chain is used to climb and steps have been concreted or chiselled into the rock face. About halfway up is a side trail with good views for a rest. After a rest keep climbing up using 3 more sets of stairs and follow the chain. About 30m from the summit the chain ends and it is a scramble to the top. When the path levels out turn right and follow the track to the rocks at the true summit and great views.

To return to your car just retrace your steps back down.

Awesome climb, very happy to have done this walk to the top in 48 minutes, rewarded with a fantastic view, a little slippy in the wet, but very happy with my first climb.

This was a consistent climb. The view at the summit was nice (near 360 degree view). Very achievable climb for beginners, a step up from Mt Coolum.

Made it up to the peak. However, still being scared of heights, the walk took me about 4 hours! A school class & many other walkers were there in the morning too.

My 1st ever attempt at a mountain walk. Unfortunately, being scared of heights I only got up to about 100 M from the peak. The walk still took me about 2 hours!

Did this walk yesterday in the heat of the day. Wow! Pretty much a constant climb involving chains and metal steps. I had a healthy respect for the King of the Mountain participants before going up but man, anyone who can run up and back in less than an hour really deserves a whole lot of cudos.
Fabulous view, enjoyed with some amazing company. A real achievement after a few months being a little sedentary. Has spurred me on to walk more!!

A great walk met some nice other walkers on the way down. Sunrise spectacular with the smoke haze.

A great walk up, very hazy.

Straightforward with well defined steps, though steep and slippy in places. Metal staircases spoil the natural quality of the setting, but the views are well worth the climb.

Went up around lunchtime. Blessed with beautiful views, rolling clouds, broken up rain showers the day of, however lucky for the rock at thye top and me stayed dry! Would of been very do able wet just slower going down.

Agreat walk up the hill bit hot in the afternoon. A breeze at the top and excellent views.

A wet morning to do this walk. A bit slippery.

This is a steep climb needing hands on the way up and bottom's, for some people, on the way down. My 6 year old, who love's to climb, found it a bit scary on the way down as it was a bit slippy on the rocks. Older climbers were tempted to go down before they reached the top. They carried on and were glad they did!! This is just a slight warning for the novice climber. i'd give it a hard rating for beginners but a must climb for everyone. just take your time. about 45mins each way is plenty.

A great walk early in the morning. Excellent views at the top. Lots of people ascending on the descent.
