Lower Ballanjui Falls

GPS Tracks

This track uses part of the Ship's Stern track as far as the bottom of Nixon's Creek Valley. It passes through a small section of rainforest at first before the Bellbird Circuit leaves on the left. The track then descends more sharply into the Nixon's Creek valley through eucalypt forest and patches of rainforest. There are good viewing areas at Koolanbilba and Yangahla Lookouts which allow the walker to see views of Egg Rock, Turtle Rock, the Numinbah Valley and Ship's Stern. Down the track, the outcrop known as Kong Gong Rock is reached with the track passing through a cleft in the rock. The track now winds down through eucalypt forest and reaches the Lower Bellbird Circuit junction. Further down are magnificent stands of flooded gum and a giant red cedar. The track to Lower Ballanjui Falls now leads off to the right and follows the creek up towards the base of the falls. The falls are best seen during the wet season of December to March, but are always very beautiful. This is an area where it is wise to carry leech repellent.

Beautiful walk through the rainforest with trickles of water following you through some sections. Not for little children as the path can get very narrow. Would definitely recommend - but start early as there is so much to see and photograph, it will take longer

Nice steady walk with Hubby and son today, even spotted a wallaby! On way there are good view lookouts for taking snaps and a cave for photo opportunities! Didn’t see any snakes but wasn’t looking and didn’t want to encounter one either. Beautiful waterfall once u hit the bottom and good spot to stop for a bite before legging it back up to the top! Precautions should be used if small children as there are no guard rails and one slip could be fatal.

Just completed this along with the Ships Stern. A little muddy and overgrown, absolutely beautiful though, it's been raining for the last few weeks so the falls were huge. Did see a Red Bellied and a Rough-scaled (I think?) Snake on the path which scared the out of me but that's expected, just tapped my stick and they slithered off.

Did this walk along with the lower Bellbird circuit walk. It adds around 30 mins or so to the lower Bellbird circuit. Its a lovely secluded spot and the falls are beautiful not too much water when i went but after rains this would be amazing. Definitely worth the walk

Good walk, gentle gradient so was relatively easy on the joints. Visited all the lookouts on the way down to the falls. Suggest that small or young children be very closely supervised at the lookouts and during some of the walk as no safety barriers are in place and one slip could result in a catastrophe. The falls were well worth the hike and an ideal place to stop for a bite to eat.

A spectacular set of falls, hard to describe the sheer scale. There's some great lookouts along the way too. Definitely worth the journey. If you are feeling energetic you might want to consider the Ships Stern circuit.
