Kondalilla Falls Circuit

Kondalilla National Park

Kondalilla Falls (80m) is one of the most spectacular and accessible falls on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The walk down to the falls is 'family friendly' with some rock stairs and a maintained path. Great views of the rainforest valley from the natural rock pools at the top. You can swim in the rock pools at both the top and bottom of the falls.

Getting there:

Head to Montville and 2km north of the town on the Mapleton Montville Road, turn left onto Kondalilla Falls Road, where there is a car park at the end. At weekends, this area becomes very, very busy and you will find yourself having to park in the adjacent residential streets.

Kondalilla Falls

Route/Trail notes:

The entire trail is well defined and maintained by National Parks. From the bottom of the picnic area just beyond the car park, join the figure of eight trail, which includes  the Picnic Creek Circuit (1.3km) and shared with the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk (58km). At the bottom of the Picnic Creek Circuit take the pathway steps (about 150) down to the rock pools at the top of the falls on your left. From there, cross the bridge and down the valley to the bottom of the falls and then back up the far side (another 150 steps) to rejoin the original trail and back to the picnic area.

Permits/Costs:

None.

In the summer months, don't forget to take your swimmers.

Easy walk would be better to go after some rain as the waterfalls didnt have much going on but the view from the lookout made it worth it

Easy to do and very popular. Kids do this in bare feet. Parking sucks so maybe go early to avoid crowds

Lovely walk, lovely falls, well maintained, worth the effort.
Probably on lower side of Medium grade walk. Ok for us 50 somethings!

Nice easy walk down to the falls and back. Beautiful scenery. Not a great deal of fitness required.

Pretty and pleasant. Great refreshing swimming.

The waterfall was still lovely to see even though we haven’t had rain in a long time! Lots of little spots for photos

That last bit uphill to the car exhausts me but always love this walk. Swam here once and loved it. Beautiful views. But walking to view the large waterfall is exhausting coming back up plus uphill back to the carpark.. Not sure I would go so down again. The rainforest is beautiful. One of the best walks if not THE best walk in this region. I post photos of my hikes to instagram.com/spring_beans am based in the Sunshine Coast :)

Great walk that’s not too challenging. Waterfall was stunning with recent rains. We went clockwise which may be the more challenging due to the stairs. Loved it!

After a week of decent rain the falls are flowing. Worthwhile to have a look in between showers.

Great morning walk. So many bird sounds. Back to nature.

A spectacularly beautiful place!

Hard going for our kids (aged 6 and 8).
2 hours walk time.
Bottom of walk near waterfall slippery and muddy due to spray from falls.
Provided map of trail on site is very poor. Trail is well marked though.
Walk to the base of the falls not worth the effort. Visit the Rock pools and Falls lookout only if time restricted or with children.

Beautiful walk.

Ena on 3 Jun, 2018

Always a great track, a bit muddy at the moment from all the rain but worth it to see the falls with so much water coming over them. Agree with others it is best to do this one anti-clockwise.

Rebecca on 24 Mar, 2018

Great circuit to complete with older children. Car park is only small for how popular this area is. Great picnic area.
