Very chill walk, plenty of bird life.

Nice easy walk with one big hill

Note - This is not a loop. You would have to return along the road to make it a loop. And take your life in your own hands. It is an easy walk through eucalyptus forest, with some views of Lake Samsonvale. No steep sections; no slippery sections. Keep a look out and you will find a few side tracks leading right to the water's edge. One way will take a bit under 1 hour. Bullocky Rest is a top picnic/BBQ spot.

Personal Comment: Top notch hike, quite easy but a good work out.
Scout Leader Comment: Joeys could do partial-full, good easy hike for Cubs, easy-peasy for Scouts upwards.

Fairly easy track. Fairly flat.
Some spots where you come to a fork and no marking. You may get lost, but not for long.
Open area exposed to sun, so be sure to bring sun protection.
Some bird life in the morning to watch and listen.
It had rained the night before and some mud puddles where the water crossed the track. Will get muddy feet if its a wet day.
Views of the damn are ok.
Plenty of nice picnic locations and recreational areas around if you want a picnic.

I did the walk from Forgan Park to Forgan Cove. Walked along the waterfront which was great to see the bird life but then had to climb through the bush to the path. instead take the track that runs alongside the road. path can be steep in some parts.

Nice morning out to be by the water. Lots of locals around going for a jog, some dogs here and there, folks taking their kids out. Seems like a bit of a birdwatching spot, we saw a few people out with giant cameras.

Pretty easy walk overall IMO and would be great for trail running. Very lucky to have this so close to home :)

Easy hike with great views. Need to be careful around dusk as there are often wild dogs about.

Delightful walk with lots of birds to photograph. Walking the edge of water is always peaceful

My go to track close to home when i feel like a walk, always nice along the dam early in the morning.

Did this walk today with our two 7 year olds.
Nice easy walk, had to have a few rest stops along the way for the boys as the weather is so hot at the moment..

Nice easy walk if you feel like blowing a few cobwebs away but only have a couple of hours to spare. From Forgan Park to the main walk it's either along the base of the dam wall (ok now as water level low from drought) or along the road (if it's wet). I usually leave out the last approx 1.5km to Forgan Cove (sign posted) and take the track to the left, then the first left again which returns to Forgan Park. Starting from Bullocky Rest that's about a 5km circuit.

Seen 2 snakes both more than a meter in length. One right next to footpath when we walked past and other was enjoying the sun across the footpath in front of us. It was in no rush to move away... we had to wait

Very easy and pretty nearly 9klm hike

Chris M on 26 Aug, 2019

Easy peasy. Nice track and a few seats along the way. Plenty of spots to cut through and see the sights at the waters edge. Saw a few green parrots and honey eaters. No koalas this time. Did this as a very slow trail run from bullocky rest to forgans cove and back. 8.8km total.

A straight forward trail walk by the lake through the shrub. We packed a picnic and enjoyed it by the water after the walk. Beautiful area!
