(Queensland)Carnarvon National Park - Lonesome Section. Good views of Arcadia Valley to the north. Remote walk.
Getting there
From Roma drive north on the Carnarvon Highway to Injune and then a further 38km until you reach the Arcadia Valley Road turn-off. Drive along this road (some sections sealed and unsealed for approximately 10km until you see the Lonesome National Park sign on the right (not the Lonesome property sign on the left as begin down this road). If you reached the Arcadia Valley lookout at the top of the range you have gone too far.
Route/Trail notes
Take the 4wd forestry track just south of the Lonesome National Park sign on the right hand side of the road. Walk approximately 5 - 7 kms until you find a left hand 4wd access track. Continue down this track until it begins to make a semi-circle. At this point head left through 50 meters of scrub until you reach a clearing and a rock ledge where you will find terrific views of Arcadia Valley to the north. The track is well worn, cleared of trees and easy to follow.
Note # This is a remote and isolated section of central Queensland - communications equipment is advised. Keep an eye out for goanna's, emu's, kangaroos and other wildlife.

Very hot conditions in summer - take plenty of water. Finish off at the Arcadia Valley lookout up the road (picnic table at site).
