Pig Bush and Penny Moor

United Kingdom

This short circular walk takes you through the Pig Bush and out onto the moor also passing over Shepton Water which can be quite boggy to cross over. A nice introductory walk to the New Forest National Park. Make sure to keep an eye out for New Forest Ponies.

Route/Trail notes

A detailed description of the walk!

From the Pig Bush Carpark head out to the trail junction where you can choose to go either clockwise or anti-clockwise. If anti clockwise continue straight ahead and after heading over a short rise you shall then cross over a boggy area on a bridge though shortly after you will be less lucky as you reach the head of Shepton Water which is unbridged and can be quite boggy. Once you make it across to the stand of trees on the far side you will begin heading back across the moor. After heading in and out of a short tree section you will once again cross Shepton Water (thankfully bridged this time) before circling the edge of the Pig Bush until you reach the original trail junction where you will follow your steps back to the Pig Bush Car Park.
