Merewether to Queens Wharf (GNW)

Starting from Merewether, you will mostly follow the coast line to Queens Wharf. After exploring some of Newcastle's (and arguably Australia's) best beaches, the grand views from Strzelecki Lookout, you then wander through King Edward Park where you can take the optional side trip to the intriguing Bogey Hole. The walk then takes you up to more panoramic views from the The Obelisk, before you stroll through Newcastle CBD and mall to Queens Wharf. There are a few long hills, just take you time and enjoy the salt air.

Baldy Top Quilpie

Located 7.4 kilometres from Quilpie on the Toompine Road rests a red rocky formation, aptly named Baldy Top Lookout. Part of the Grey Range, Baldy Top is one of the most elevated points in South West Queensland.

Explore caves and crevices, untouched by civilisation whilst traversing this magnificent boulder formation which was created naturally over millions of years.

A climb to the summit of Baldy Top is a relatively easy ten minute scramble. Although Baldy Top appears quite small in its surroundings, once atop this hill, one is amazed by the breathtaking panoramic landscapes that stretch as far as your imagination.

As ancient as time itself, Baldy Top offers visitors stunning sunsets whilst experiencing the serenity and solitude of the Outback.

Queanbeyan River Loop Walk

A 20km walk at the southern end of Googong Dam, near Queanbeyan NSW. There are 2 options, one is to walk to Flynns Crossing and back or take the cycling route and turn the end of the walk into a slightly longer loop. An excellent walk through dry forest with a couple of river crossings to test out your boots and finding a way around one too deep to walk. Good walk for training purposes as there are regular climbs, steep and short and long and not so steep.
