Check the tides tables, as the place is pretty uninspiring when the tide is out.

Also, as a mangrove swamp, the mosquitoes are rife and as big as cats! Spray up accordingly.

Comments

Anyone who grew up in the area likely took a field trip this mangrove bush walk. Its short with a design on teaching children about ecosystems and conservation. You will see lots of birds and crabs but also the mosquitos can get quite aggressive, definitely bring repellent. Not very suitable for jogging.

Very nice walk, we did it with 5 year old and 2 year old.

Take the insect repellent WITH YOU on this walk- the little black mozzies are lethal.

What a beautiful little walk along the boardwalk. Spectacular paperbark & mangroves. Great views along the river to Mt Coolum & Buderim. Go now for PYO Strawberries from the Farm next door - it’s the season!

Wetland walk with much variety.

lovely short flat walk on a beautiful winter's day. Worth a look even though it is very short and easy

Nice walk. Taking mosquito repellent is a must. Not much bird life but it was the middle of a gloomy day. Must return early or late one day. Very well prepared walkways.

Nice Sunday morning stroll catching the fog lifting of the maroochy river

Easy walking along boardwalk, with occasional seating for rests. Took some food and drink and enjoyed sitting at the river watching the boats go by (no seating, so sat on the timber wharf. In strawberry season, visit the strawberry farm next door for the biggest and juiciest strawbs!

See birdlife, crabs, butterflies, mangroves and rainforest on this easy walk. Spray copiously in deet though, mosquitoes in their millions, and they’re very hungry!

I'd done this before without the self guided booklet, definitely get the booklet and stop and wait for the orange claws to reappear after you e frightened them away.

This popped up on Instagram #visitsunshinecoast, so, as it just down the road, I thought I had better go check it out as a 'new' walk.
