Rocky Creek Circuit

Parklands Conservation Park

Parklands Regional Park is a valuable wildlife habitat with vegetation ranging from eucalypt forests of bloodwood and tallowwood trees (with banksia, wattle and grass tree understorey) to rainforest gullies with flooded gum, turpentine and, in protected wetter areas, groves of palms.
A number of creeks lead to rock pools and cascades, which flow after heavy rainfall.

Route/Trail notes:

This is one of four well defined tracks in the Parkland and travels through open eucalypt forest with bloodwood, tallowwood and casuarina trees on the high ridges, is characteristic of this track.

This is a very undulating track and popular with Trail Bike Riders.  You will cross two small creeks and pass apiary bee hives on this circuit. In the lower areas, scribbly gum, bracken fern and palm groves grow in protected gullies, where the soil retains more moisture.

Permits/Costs:

None.

As signposting can be a little vague, it is suggested you print off a copy of the tracks from the website link above. Be aware, that the tracks are 'shared' with horse riders and in some section mountain bike riders.

We combined the rocky creek and Coobong circuits coming in at 8.2km. Some hills but only short section that was really steep, the rest was fine. Somewhat shaded but I would hate to do it in the very middle of the day. We were finished before 11.

First bushwalk ! Really enjoyable scenery with creek crossing n a couple of steep hills to get the ol heart pumping ! Signage a little confusing at first probably due to our excitement to get moving ! Can t wait to do the other walks !

Nice walk if you're local and want to get away from it all yet not having to drive too far.

Not a bad walk along a 4wd track. We were a little confused in the beginning by the map on the sign which was for bike tracks. We then found the walking tracks sign on the back which made it much clearer. There are good signs all along the way. We would recommend taking the track in a clockwise direction as we did. It's really quite hilly but there is one particularly long steep section which we were happy not to be climbing up.

Another walk, that we completed by accident! We were doing a reci of the course for Nambour Park Run (the hardest Park Run in Australia), which we were due to complete on the following Saturday morning at 7am.

So not only have we walked this one, but also run the 5km in 38 minutes!

Day 2 , hike 2 ....similar track as before , just a little steeper at places and crossing Rocky Creek, surprisingly not that much flowing water after the rain during the night

Entry is from radar hill road. There are 4 walking tracks to choose from here varying in length and difficulty. Areas are well signposted. We did the Rocky Creek Circuit (5.6 km) this morning. Tracks themselves are very wide and well kept. Keep an eye out for passing mountain bikers. Good canopy sheltering out the sun. More of a recreational trail rather than a genuine bushwalk but great fun regardless. Definitely recommended to tick off your bucket list!
