Millaa Millaa Falls

Far North Queensland

Millaa Millaa Falls is the most beautiful and iconic waterfall of the waterfall-laden Atherton Tablelands region. What the falls has going for it, is a lush rainforest setting fringed with broad ferns, colourful flowers and a plunge pool suitable for swimming. Even though the size of the falls is modest, at 18.3m, it possessed a photo-friendly classical rectangular shape, which complements the idyllic scenery well.

More a smimathon than a bushwalk, you will end up spending more than the half hour here, picnicking, more cooling swims and just enjoying the majesty of this place.

Make the most of your day, by visiting the Mamu Tropical Skywalk, Tchupala Falls and Nandroya Falls on your way along the Palmerston Highway.

Not really a walk but a fantastic view of a stunning waterfall. These falls are part of the 'Waterfall Circuit' which includes Zillie and Ellinjaa Falls. There are some short but serious walks (VERY steep) at Ellinjaa Falls.

With adventurous bushwalking off the cards at the moment (Jan 2020), due to severe weather conditions, I had a look back through my record to see if there were a few I had never posted and this was one from 2001.
This is a most wonderful place, whilst Josephine Falls gets all the cred, this place beats it in every way; from its surrounding lush rainforest garden, waterhole for cooling off and a beautiful waterfall, which you can get under and behind, what more could you want.
