Lower Ballanjui Falls

This track uses part of the Ship's Stern track as far as the bottom of Nixon's Creek Valley. It passes through a small section of rainforest at first before the Bellbird Circuit leaves on the left. The track then descends more sharply into the Nixon's Creek valley through eucalypt forest and patches of rainforest. There are good viewing areas at Koolanbilba and Yangahla Lookouts which allow the walker to see views of Egg Rock, Turtle Rock, the Numinbah Valley and Ship's Stern. Down the track, the outcrop known as Kong Gong Rock is reached with the track passing through a cleft in the rock. The track now winds down through eucalypt forest and reaches the Lower Bellbird Circuit junction. Further down are magnificent stands of flooded gum and a giant red cedar. The track to Lower Ballanjui Falls now leads off to the right and follows the creek up towards the base of the falls. The falls are best seen during the wet season of December to March, but are always very beautiful. This is an area where it is wise to carry leech repellent.

Love this walk. Diverse landscapes with varying flora keep it really interesting. Falls were awesome. Will be doing it again!

This is a good walk. well signed, you can park just across from the entrance to the lower box forest circuit and head straight down.
it opens up into a large green space at the bottom of the hill where you can have a nice picnic or spot for lunch. but if you just want to keep going then head right and follow the signs.

I would recommend this walk for hikers looking to start out or groups of casual walkers and for families whose kids can handle the distance, is not very difficult to do. There are lots of beautiful things to see on this walk with great views all along the track.

if you are pack/ weight training this is good to give it a go there are plenty of places to rest

Nice easy walk. Lots of leeches about. Great view of Ballanjui Falls. Nice vantage points of Egg Rock Little Egg Rock and Turtle Rock. Also nice views of Advancetown Dam and Pages Pinnacle.

We did this walk after a big wet period so the track was very stodgy but well worth the intense decent down to the falls and met with the strong accent back up to the car park. Definitely a great walk with spectacular sclerophyll forest and rainforest on the journey. A few places to sit and have a cup of tea and a nice biscuit :P

Very scenic and nice track. Quite extensive sections of mud, but nothing too serious. Lookouts are great and are very refreshing. On the way to the falls, it is a slight decline and very easy. Return is a slight incline and could be considered challenging if new :)

Loved this walk so much the first time, we had to do it again. The falls were absolutely spectacular after all the recent storms with a few fallen trees to go over and under along the track but nothing too hard. Always a delightful sight to see the ever changing landscapes along the way at the couple of lookouts so you won’t ever be bored. It took us 4hrs to do the 11.1kms return at a leisurely pace with plenty of photo stops. I can again only highly recommend this bushwalk.

Completed the Lower Ballanjui Falls today and highly recommended it as a easy to moderate walk with plenty to see. The two lookouts on the way were spectacular with views of Egg Rock, Turtle Rock and all the way to the Hinze Dam. Once you make your way down into the valley and follow the creek, you eventually find yourself at the base of the Ballanjui Waterfalls and wow! - what a sight it is to see. A great walk to do in summer as you are under the cover of cool rainforest with plenty of small water crossings all the way. This wont be the last time we do this one - a definite to add to the redo list.

Loved the rock crop look out (not for children or anyone with vertigo). The Waterfall was lovely and went up a lot higher than the pictures make out.

Hiked this trail when it was raining lightly. The creeks were full of water and so were the falls. Ended up being a very pretty hike in the rain. However, plenty of leaches were around and unfortunately my friend's socks were not high enough and she got bitten multiple times. Very easy to continue on to the Ship Stern's circuit, however, it was a little wet and late in the day for us - we made it to Charraboomba rock turn off and then turned back. Will definitely be back.

Our plan was to walk to these falls as well as the Bell Bird Lookout. We didn't see the turnoff to the Bell Bird Lookout, so our walk was quicker than expected. So after making it to the falls we decided to complete the ships stern track. The track up would have been fairly steep and to be honest we didn't feel like it. There wasn't much water going over the falls, but it's still a nice place to have a break. It would be nice to see it when it's flowing freely, but at least there were no leeches.

First of the hot days for this summer and we came across a 2 meter Red Belly Black snake sunning itself on the path. after a min it slithered off and let us pass.

Great walk! We started at the information centre (lower car park), walk down the road 400m and you will see the sign for the Lower Bellbird track on the right. Take this track. The track is easy to follow after this - there's a great palm section to walk to the Ballanjui waterfall (again clearly signed). Uphill (but not too strenuous) back to the 'Binna Burra Lodge' and then the final part of the walk is on the road back to the lower car park. Overall a nice walk, there are also a couple of lookouts on the way! :)

Beautiful walk through the rainforest with trickles of water following you through some sections. Not for little children as the path can get very narrow. Would definitely recommend - but start early as there is so much to see and photograph, it will take longer

Nice steady walk with Hubby and son today, even spotted a wallaby! On way there are good view lookouts for taking snaps and a cave for photo opportunities! Didn’t see any snakes but wasn’t looking and didn’t want to encounter one either. Beautiful waterfall once u hit the bottom and good spot to stop for a bite before legging it back up to the top! Precautions should be used if small children as there are no guard rails and one slip could be fatal.

Just completed this along with the Ships Stern. A little muddy and overgrown, absolutely beautiful though, it's been raining for the last few weeks so the falls were huge. Did see a Red Bellied and a Rough-scaled (I think?) Snake on the path which scared the out of me but that's expected, just tapped my stick and they slithered off.
