Getting there

Head to the Green Mountains section of Lamington National Park. The walk to Morans Falls starts about 1km before you reach the (O'Reilys) car park at the end of the road.  If the carpark is full you can park at O'Reilys and backtrack.

Maps

The walk is clearly marked. Track maps are available from the information centre.

Route/Trail notes

Follow the track! Make sure to follow the track past the first lookout (after snapping some photos) down to where the track crosses the creek (great place for a snack) and on to the lookout a few hundred metres further on. This gives a great view over the gorge out towards Main Range.

Other References

Just about any guide book/website/brochure for Lamington or O'Reilly's will have something on the walk.

It's also worth checking out Bernard O'Reilly's book "Green Mountains" which describes the family's move to the plateau, including their first hut near Morans Falls.

Comments

Quite an leisurely walk, need to go off track a bit to enjoy the star of the show which is the Moran falls itself, but well worth it. The views are spectacular! Be extra careful as it is a sheer rock / fall.

pretty easy walk - watch out for leeches! Lovely waterfalls at the end of the trail.

Short walk with the reward of a great waterfall, it had been raining for 2 days when I went down this track so plenty of action from the falls. Very misty from low cloud so views were limited that day

A nice 2 hour walk. Saw a double rainbow. probably okay for older children not so much for little ones.
Roads are pretty damaged, lots of potholes for about 15kms, very bumpy but 100% worth it.

Awesome waterfall, fresh clear water. Great views.

A lovely little wet walk with the kids to see the waterfall. About 6.6 K from the main carpark. Did not expect to see a wandering blue Crayfish just off the path.

Easy walk, well marked track, my daughter (12) and I ran the track. Enjoyed sunset and views then headed back up in the dark with headlamps.

Nice views & hike, horrible road to it.

Start off early before it gets too busy. Park you car in
O’ Riellys and walk down 900 meters to the start of the walk. Lovely walk to the falls, we did the Python Rock lookout, well worth the walk. Much quieter but really nice.

Nice lookout towards the west with Mt Lindesay, Mt Barney and Mt Maroon lined up.

A nice, shady walk, quite pretty, plenty to look at, not just generic bush. We passed a couple with a pram on our way down who were on their way back, so it isn't a difficult walk. Saw a Regent Bowerbird high up in the trees. The waterfall was beautiful.

We found a shortcut to the road on our way back, that let out among the villas at O'Reilly's. We also saw a lyrebird off to the side on the track that goes between the villas and O'Reilly's.

Nice little walk, even amid the Covid-19 there was still a dozen people there for sunset (on a friday), so I'd imagine that it cant get quite busy sometimes. If you're walking back in the dark, be careful where you shine your light as there was a couple of very small patches of glow worms.

Easy walk, family friendly 4.4km return great view looking back towards Mt Barney and Mt Maroon ideal for photography on sunset

Did this with my partner (both 25yo) this morning and didn't find it very challenging, however was very rewarding. Breath taking views, waterfall was magnificent as expected as the 2 weeks of torrential rain had just finished up 2 days ago. Saw some cool birds, lizards, and cray fish, and had lunch on top of the waterfall. Kids and elderly can do this with ease. We completed it in 64 mins and did the neighboring track burning over 200 calories!

Beautiful waterfall and view. The walk is nice and easy. So glad we did this walk.

Nice view, and nice waterfall even it is no rain for a long time.

Great views

There is a shorter route to this lookout if you are at the Villas at O'Reilly's head down to the Spa and just before the pool there is a short 500m walk to the falls lookout. Quite easy to walk it.
