What an amazing experience. I loved every second of this climb up and down. I don't particularly agree with the level 5 rating. Definitely a 4.

Fun walk, good effort, and fun but tight rock scramble. Very busy trail though

Absolutely beautiful day for walking. Sun on our back and nice crisp breeze at most parts of the track. The car park was full and parking was a fair way away from the start of the walk. Lots and lots of people doing the walk, but still enjoyable. This is quite a challenging walk in that it never lets up with the climbing, and really gets your heart pounding.

Just tackled this walk today, i actually found it easier than the normal way. Definitely longer. But most of the climb is done via the fire trails so it's a much slower ascent. Went with a mate of mine and had a brilliant day!

You start from the Sandy creek trail and follow that for a while, about 5.7 km give or take a few hundred metres, then you trek up a much narrower trail where you get to try out your rock hopping skills for a little bit, then to the top of the adjacent peak to Flinders. you will then go along a very narrow dirt trail along a slope, and then reach a section where you will have to do some good old fashioned scrambling. The ground can be quite soft and will give away under foot, eventually you will come to the rock scrambling part that is on the main trail, then it's business as usual from there.

You could go back the way you came, and it would end up being around 16-17km all up, or take the quick way down via the normal trail. Make sure you take water and wear sturdy grippy shoes.

Too much dirt road for my liking. The scrambling to the top is nice and shaded. Took under 4 hours.

Always a favourite great to walk it with a group make sure you have plenty of water as there is no where to refill. The rock scramble provides plenty of great views but you may need to channel a bit of a mountain goat as you scramble across!

Juanita on 28 Jul, 2018

Always a great mountain to climb and the view each time gets better and better. Not for the faint hearted as the rock scramble across the top is one to be careful of. Make sure you have plenty of water and sunscreen!

Training for Kokoda in September this is one of the best trails for preparation!

Juanita on 21 Jul, 2018

Always a good hike and one that tests your stamina and endurance at times.

Really enjoyable walk with one particularly fun scrambling section. Great views from the top, however the communication facilities built up their take away from the natural feel quite a bit.
