Freshwater Lake

Great Sandy National Park

Easy walk along a well formed walking track to the lake. It is possible to circumnavigate the lake which will add around 4.5km to the walk. The lake has a tree leaning across which can be climbed and has a rope swing for swinging into the lake. Check for submerged objects!

Getting there

How do you get to the start of the walk? Walk starts from Freswater Day Use area which is only accesible by 4wd. Easiest access is via Rainbow Beach, along the beach towards Double Island Point (Low tide only). Just prior to Double Island Point take the access 4wd track across to the next beach and head south for a short distance before reaching the Freshwater access 4wd track. Head inland to the day use area and the start of the walking track.

Comments

Busy as expected with School holidays, need some bins along the way as people cant seem to take their rubbish out.

Spent a couple of days camping and fishing along the beach. Great spot to get away from it all with no mobile coverage
