Getting there:

Once in Hughenden, head east on Stansfield Street to the Showground entrance, where the walk begins.

Route/Trail notes:

From the Showground, head along Stansfield Street towards town and once across the creek, turn right and follow the path along Station Creek's bank down to Flinders River, where the path turns left and follows the river down to the bridge. Cross the bridge and turn left and walk along the river bed (river level permitting) to the end of the park on your right. Return along the pathway in the park, past the bridge and through the park to the far end. Return to the bridge, cross it and follow your original path back to the start.

The map indicates that you can cross the Flinders river opposite Station Creek, but this was not possible when I was there.

Opposite the start, is the historic Coolabah Tree, blazed by Frederick Walker and Sir William Landsborough, whilst searching for Burke and Wills.
