Robinson Gorge Access

Expedition National Park

This walk turns off just before the gorge lookout and takes you down to the floor of the gorge. This part of the walk is very steep but some helpful person has chiselled a few small steps into the rocks to make the descent easier. Once at the bottom you can spend as long as you like hiking in either direction up and the gorge.

Getting there

From Starkvale Creek camping ground, walk the 4km to Robinson Gorge lookout then follow the trail to the floor of the gorge.

Expedition NP is one of our favourites. We recommend Topo Maps from QMaps download and a GPS. Ross went right to the end of the gorge where gets impassable due to becoming very narrow and muddy/very cold water . If you are very fit and experienced you can access to the gorge and go to the end (towards the cattle dip) and back in one day. Julie just went a kilometre down and took lots of photos...

Worth taking the time into the Gorge. Not as steep as noted but care must be taking. Plenty of tracks ( sort of ) to follow once in the Gorge

The 2km to the floor of the gorge are quite steep with no markers. There are no trails in the gorge itself. A fair level of fitness is required.
