Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area

Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area

There is no direct track, just a heap of different paths, where you can wonder through the conservation area spotting all sorts of wildlife. Especially kangaroos, that are slowly becoming more used to humans, so you can get some really nice photos of some semi wild kangaroos. Otherwise there are koalas and bird life also to enjoy.

Getting there

Park at the car park on Shelter Road, (entrance via; Rain Tree Glen).

Maps

See City of Gold Coast for maps of the conservation area.

Route/Trail notes

Just walk around the conservation area, there are some so called tracks you can follow, however it is suggested you just walk the way you want. Recomend having a walk down one of the management trails where the track is a bit more in denser bush.
Due to the swamplands surrounding, mosiqutoes are in big numbers here all year round.

Nice flat walk. Loads of kangaroos. We saw 1 koala and we had a encounter with a rather large Red Belly Black snake which Sandra nearly stepped on. We had a bit of rain and a lot of the tracks were under water.

We walked just under 10km doing the majority of the tracks. Perfectly flat and wide trails with kangaroos. Nice place to get some exercise.

Network of short trails. Combine from 2km to 12km. Great place to bring visitors who are keen to see kangaroos.

A good walk with flat easy trails through a surprisingly diverse environment. When a trip to the Gold Coast hinterland seems a little too far then this is a great alternative.

Really lovely place to come and walk and explore, with beautiful flora and fauna.
There are quite a few different tracks and management trails throughout the conservation park, which all link up and it's definitely worth exploring. It's completely flat, so nice and easy for people of all ages and fitness levels.
I've been here a number of times now and each time I've easily spent two hours walking and not covered the whole area.
There are always plenty of kangaroos about, and if you're lucky you'll spot a koala or two as well.
While I was on the lookout for koalas yesterday and keeping an eye out for snakes, I stumbled upon an echidna, who promptly scurried away to hide under a fallen tree branch on the ground. What a lovely surprise!

There are a number of interconnecting trails to choose from with a beautiful variety of scenery and wildlife. Easily clocked up 10 kms and didn't get to every section. Very flat easy walk. We saw dozens of kangaroos and 2 koalas. :)

Was a great walk! We saw five Koalas, Kangaroos, I went with my Pram, containing my 1 yr old and my 3 yr old and it was perfect. Went for 1 hour, but you can go for less or more, a real treasure of a walk

You can walk for a few minutes and see the kangaroos or you can go all the way to the end of the conservation area for about a 1.5 hour walk. without any breaks
