Route/Trail notes

Altitude is the main problem here. Very hilly. Alot of Lungs and Leg training was done before hand. The 2nd day is the hardest and the highest. Day 3 was about 17km of mostly down stairs but we found we could almost run this. Different climates from confortable (1st night) to freezing (2nd night) to very hot on the 3rd night. Camping for each night on the trail.

Started the trail on the day of my birthday.
The Inca trail was all that I expected. The archeological sites along the way make it that much more incredible. Then you have the views, some of the prettiest walking I have ever done.

Well worth the effort, and yes, day 2 is as hard as you've heard.

The porters are legendary for a reason, they are superhuman machines!

Most amazing experience. Peru is beautiful. The hike can be a bit of a test of character but you can go as fast or slow as needed. The Porters will overtake you no matter how fast you are going.
