Wollangambe Canyon (Upper Section)

New South Wales

An "easy" canyon in the Blue Mountains - requiries no abseils, but you need basic navigation skills and you need to take note of where to exit. The Upper Section (or Wollangambe One) is (arguably ) slightly shorter and easier than the Lower Section.

Route/Trail notes

The Wollangambe River is reached from a trail behind the Mt Wilson fire station. Follow the river (there are many deep sections where a lilo is helpful) before exiting at GR560916 (look out for an "exit" sign painted on the rock face). The initial climb out is very steep.

Permits/Costs

National Park annual pass or daily entry fee

Epic.... take several good maps in water proof, GPS and CANVAS lilo as cheap ones leak... Haha guess what happened to one in our group?

Great excursion on a hot day... was a bit under-prepared and ended up doing more swimming than expected, Must bring a li-lo next time!
