Kosciuszko Summit

New South Wales

Beautiful walk to the top of Australia, boardwalk all the way, still know you have walked it though, will probably be lots of people. Catch the chairlift up to top of Crackenback, enjoy the wild flowers, heaths and cross the headwaters of the Snowy River, wow what a way to spend the day. Take in the view.

Chairlift up on Snow Gums. Traversed across to Eagles Nest approx 400 meters. From there the track is easily made out due to not too much snow on the ground. Steel grated walkway most of the way to the intersection from Charlotte Pass. From there a nice leisurely ascent to the summit.

Recommended if walking this time of year to take warm clothes and headwear. better to have it and not need it then not take it and wish you had.

Will be back to do the full hike and also some others in the region during summer.

Via Thredbo and chair lift to Eagles Nest. Cool and overcast day. Clothing layers needed. Enjoyed the walk. Had lunch at summit. At least a dozen or more other walkers there. Very disappointed that the Monument was under repair and covered in tarp. Will have to do it again. May walk in from Charlottes Pass next time. Wow! was amazed that we had phone coverage at summit and had to ring a friend.

This was a beautiful walk. It was suggested to me to get there early and be one of the first to get the chairlift as to get uninhibited views from other hikers while hiking and once at the top. I am glad I did. It was glorious.

I did this when you could drive most of the way, I cheated!!

Yes, well worth the Hype, Beginning with a delicious brunch and Cuppa at Eagles Nest (top of chairlift) followed by an amazing walk to the summit, still allot of snow covering the track.... One to remember :)

Was great, did it with the 3 kids, take water, watch the sun, enjoy the views, wildflowers are beautiful, see some snow in summer, lots of people but never crowded, apparently busiest time is Easter.

This is a great walk to tick off, though you really don't feel like you're on Australia's highest mountain. Most of the work is done by the chair lift, then it's a fairly level walk to the summit. There were heaps and heaps of flies.
