Mount Maroon Caves

A walk up from Cotswold trailhead to a cave on the northern side of the mountain.

Off track bush-bashing and some climbing.

Mount Samson

Sorry, this walk is now closed. This area is now private property, no entry is permitted.

Mount May

A challenging half day circuit walk of Mount May with great views of the surrounding mountains.

Mount Moon

Mount Moon near Mount Alford is on private property (you can ask for permission to climb it) near Mt Greville. I took the difficult (not defined) route up, through lots of lantana (as tall as myself) in which I got severely tangled. Lots of scratches to show for it at the end. My first really hard bushwalk.

Mount Byron

Out and back trail to Mount Byron that can be accessed by 4wd or added onto a walk of the Somerset Trail. Walk is initially along fire trail up and over the summit of Mount Byron before it ends on the far side from there continue along single trail to enjoy views from the cliff line on the Southern side of Mount Byron.

Mount Mia

Located in Wrattens State Forest . Nice quite hike as none venture out here often I say.

Mount Amos

Mount Amos is a brilliant challenge set in the stunning Freycinet National Park. You'll have to have a good head for heights, have shoes with good grip & be willing to scramble the whole way up & down again. Despite the difficulty, the reward is spectacular at the top with unmatched views of Wineglass Bay & surrounds. An exceptional climb! Don't forget to stop & enjoy the view.

Mt Barney East Peak via SE Ridge, traverse North Pinnacle to Leaning Peak, descend to Barney Gorge and Lower Portals

We did this as a day walk, starting at Yellow Pinch carpark around 7AM and arriving at Lower Portals about 4PM. We were told by a professional guide we bumped into at Yellow Pinch carpark that we wouldn't be able to complete our planned route in 1 day. We completed it easily in about 9 hours and taking plenty of stops, but we're experienced hikers and you need to hold a good pace. Most people would probably prefer to break it up into a 2-day walk.

A couple things you need to know first up:
1. This route starts at Yellow Pinch Carpark but finishes at Lower Portals Carpark, so you either need to pre-arrange a way to get back to your car or you have an extra walk at the end from Lower Portals back to Yellow Pinch.
2. A rope is needed to descend a couple short sections of the couloir on the western side of Leaning Peak. This is a very steep scramble through thick grass and over a few small cliffs, so only attempt if you are comfortable with doing this, as once you pass the first cliff you're pretty much committed to continuing the descent because it's difficult to get back up.

Mount Nathan

A short walk through the Mount Nathan Reserve to the summit of Mount Nathan with some views between the trees of the Gold Coast.
