A clifftop boardwalk along the rocky coastline between Marino and Hallett Cove. Experience the unique environment along this section of Adelaide’s coastline, with rugged cliffs and rocky reef platforms. The trail follows the cliff edge, descending down numerous gullies. The trail consists of boardwalk, steps (lots) and pathways.
The walk is a good option as a regular route to keep fit, as there are numerous sets of stairs descending and ascending the numerous steep gullies which cut through the cliffs.
Golden Chance Mine: a self guided walk, 1.7 km return. The walk to this mine offers the opportunity to examine one of the miners huts of ‘dry stone’ construction. Also from the mine, a short 200 m ascent to the top of the hill will reward you with a spectacular panoramic view of Arltunga. A walk information sheet is available from the carpark.
Historic Mine Walks: MacDonnell Range Reef Mine: a self guided walk, 0.9 km return. Access to the underground section of this walk has been closed due to safety concerns. A walk information sheet is available from the carpark.
A small network of well-maintained walking tracks through eucalypt forest, accessed from three trailheads. Highlights include a small waterfall (accessible the top and the base) and a shady gully where stepping-stones lead across a creek crossing. Excellent birdwatching opportunities.
Each of the circuits has its own difficulty rating, ranging from Grade 2/Easy -Grade 4/Hard (includes some steep sections, natural stone stairs + slip hazards). In general, these walks are appealing to walkers of all ages, and most fitness levels.
