Bare Rock track and Morgan's Walk (Main Range National Park)
21 Feb, 2016
Medium
13km
4.5 hrs
Very easy walk - it's a steady incline the whole way up, but not steep at all. Clear track and beautiful views over the Fassifern Valley below once you hit the Mount Cordeaux lookout. It's worth walking 2.8km further to get to the Bare Rock lookout - it really opens up and you get awesome 180 degree views back towards the East. Well worth the 4 hour return walk (with lunch stop at the top).
Mt Warning Summit Trail (Wollumbin National Park)
2 Aug, 2015
Hard
8.3km return
5 hrs
Stoked to have made it - a good walk that gets the heart going. Took about 2 hours to reach the summit and I like to think we are reasonably fit people. The 360 degree view from the top is pretty awesome,

The top of the mountain is a disappointment though. Overrun by backpackers/hippies crowded in for a view of the sunrise. There were Americans yelling and yahooing the whole way up, and at the top there were a stack of smelly Byron Bay/Nimbin hippies carrying on as well. There was really no need for loud behaviour at 6am! Two stupid people also brought dogs up as well...which is not only banned in National Parks, but it's also animal cruelty when you see the final 400m of the climb - its vertical!

I won't be doing the climb again, otherwise I'll be sure to throw an obnoxious American backpacker or dreadlocked hippy off the mountain.good to tick this off the bucket list though.
Mt Ninderry (Sunshine Coast)
19 Jul, 2015
Medium
3.3km return
90 mins
A quick little calf burner. It took us about 25 mins to reach the top. The start and end are pretty easy going, but the middle section is a bit of work. It's steep for a good 15 mins and is very loose rock. I'd wear sturdy shoes if scaling this mountain. From the top, there are very nice views overlooking the Coast from Coolum down to Mooloolaba. A couple of other little lookouts on the way up give you a nice view north. Definitely worth doing and one the whole family came enjoy.
Mt Maroon (Mt Barney National Park)
13 Apr, 2015
Hard
6km return
5 hrs
This was my first Class 5 walk and I had a lot of fun doing. Yes it was fairly steep and steady the entire way up, but at no time was I scared that I was going to fall off a mountain. It was a perfectly safe walk and a person with reasonable fitness should be able to do it without a worry. After climbing up the middle ridge you come to a set of rocks that give you some amazing views south. From here, turn right and you'll see the final trek to the summit of the mountain. You get some glorious views over Mount Barney, Lake Maroon and the surrounding Scenic Rim. An awesome walk that I would love to do again! It took myself and my partner (who was carrying a couple of small injuries) about 2.5 hours to get to the top. It took us about 2 hours to get back to the bottom.
Mt Ngungun (Glass House Mountains National Park)
21 Mar, 2015
Medium
2.8km return
90 mins
An easy 20 minute walk to the top of Ngun Ngun. It's one of the smaller Glasshouse Mountains and is a very similar climb to Mount Coolum. I didn't find any of this walk challenging, but did have fun doing it. A nice view over the Coast and the Hinterland from the top. It's a very popular walk, so expect crowds.
Mt Mitchell (Main Range National Park)
2 Mar, 2015
Medium
10.98km
3.5 hrs
A pretty easy walk up a fairly high mountain. At no point did I have to climb or scramble. It's just a steady hike the whole way. You get spectacular views from the top looking all over the Scenic Rim.
Mount Coolum (Sunshine Coast)
28 Feb, 2015
Medium
2.6km return
90 mins
A short, sharp walk up the Sunny Coast's favourite mountain. This mountain is always busy with people. It's a fairly steady trek up, with some steepish section - but nothing too hard. You can walk up it in 20 minutes easily. A lot of people jog it. From the top, the views south over Maroochydore and Mooloolaba look amazing!!
Mt Cooroora (Sunshine Coast)
10 Feb, 2015
Hard
2.6km return
2.5 hrs
You'll love this walk! It's a pretty rocky and steep climb up, with plenty of chains to help you out. In saying that though, it's not an overly physical walk. I had a lot of fun climbing this mountain and the views from the top looking towards Noosa are outstanding! It doesn't take long to complete and I recommend doing it at sunrise or sunset.
The Sphinx and Turtle Rock (Girraween National Park)
Dec, 2014
Medium
7km return
2.5 hrs
Not a hard walk by any means and not too long either. In saying that, it did get the heart rate going in sections on the way up. It took us about 3 hours return from memory. The Sphinx isn't overly impressive close up. It actually looks better from a distance - much like an ugly person. Overall, a good workout, but only a medium level of difficulty.
