Summary

A nice steady upward walk to the very highest mountain of the Bunya Mountain group at 1154m.

History

Burtons well was doug during 1901-02 drought. By local teamsters Bob Burton and his brother George to water their horse and bullock teams. Burton decendants still live in the area. Water from the well was used in the road construction and by local visitors up until the 1970's.

Access

Go along the Bunya Mountains Road. It's approx 3 hrs drive from Brisbane

Some topo maps are available. All tracks are well marked and general walking maps are available at the self registration site.

Accommodation

There are plenty of local B and B's in the area

Camping

It is possible to camp at Burtons well. It is a self registration site.
