Northbrook Mtn bush camp walk
(Bush Camps)Remote bush camping on a high ridge overlooking Kipper Creek in wet sclerophyll forest. Northbrook Mountain summit is approximately a 15-minutes walk from the campsite. The summit affords extensive views looking south across the England Creek catchments and is covered in mountain heath, where wildflowers bloom between winter and spring.
Getting there
From Mount Glorious Road, this campsite is accessed via Lawton Road. Along the 4.7km walk, take in the beautiful subtropical rainforest and wet sclerophyll scenery. A wide variety of birds can also be seen along this track that winds around the base of Northbrook Mountain.
It can be used as a stopover on the longer walk to England Creek bush camp.
Route/Trail notes
Once again an old logging road.
At approx 1.2km mark look for an old timber loader. It is of heritage note.
Still in a good condition for a 4WD track. The track is up and down all the way to the campsite. A new water tank and roof have been made. But as always use the water there as a last resort and boil before drinking.

Took my brother and I 1.30 hrs from the Lawton Rd entry on Mt Glorious with 3 days worth of camping gear and food.Meet 2 rangers who warned us there had been two major washouts up ahead, and that no body goes to the camp site any more so may be hard to find. We got to the water tank, and and went right at the split, but could not find a path to the campsite, after looking for approx 2hrs, we camped at the water tank. Wonderful walk.

I followed the 4wd track to the campsite then went off track about 200m down the England Creek 4wd track to the main summit of Northbrook Mountain. Followed a rough footpath to the Eastern peak and then turned north down a steep and loose foot trail to the 4wd track about 2 km from the start of the track.Boris Zoubakin on 21 Jun, 2010
I left this walk a little late.... I know i'll be walking back half the way in the dark.. No problems I have a head torch.Starting off in rainforest that soon disappears into the usual dry forest. Stopped off at the old Timber loader. Then continued along and I saw a Goanna cross the track and head up a tree where it tried to get some bird eggs. I don't know how successful it was I kept walking.
Eventually got to the camp ground.. Saw a new water tank and roof. I set myself up in the afternoon sun trying to dry out my shirt. Brewed up some coffee and had a bite to eat. And took it all in ........ too bad i have to walk back.
I made it back in the dark. Head torch worked well and very happy with it. About the last half hour back was in the dark so not too bad....
