Mt Cordeaux

 (Main Range National Park)

Mt Cordeaux forms the Northern side of Cunningham's Gap. The track ends at a platform just below the main peak and is ideal for viewing South, down the length of Main Range National Park. There are also good views of the Moogerah Peaks, Mt Barney and North to the Mistake Mountains.

Distance:

6.8km

Duration:

2.5 hours

Difficulty:

Medium

Getting there

From Brisbane follow the Cunningham Highway towards Cunningham's Gap. At the top of the gap turn right into a carpark adjoining the highway. The Mt Mitchell track leaves on the opposite side of the road, so take care when crossing!

Maps

The track is clearly marked so no map is required, however the Sunmap Cunninghams Gap sheet covers the area.

Further Walks

The Mt Cordeaux track continues on to Bare Rock/Morgan's Walk and is worth the effort if you have the time.

Walked this track just after plenty of rain. The walk was magic the mountains streams were flowing very well. Some rocks across the track and half way along a large tree has fallen across the track. People have started to cut the track to walk around it.

The most amazing views with the clouds racing up the main range and the peak of Mt. Mitchell splitting clouds in half.

Wonderful views at the top and a bit history to catch up on along the way. An easy walk so why not carry on to Bare Rock

Sometime...

This walk is very enjoyable, clearly marked track, can be soft on the edges at times, very comfortable in the summer time as you meander up with a great view at the top.Be carefull at the lookout though in windy conditions.
